The average human life is roughly about 4,000 weeks long, So when you’re planning what to do this week you’re actually planning how to live a small chunk of your life.

Unfortunately, most of us (more than 67% of adults) don’t really have a plan! Instead, we run around trying to respond to whatever’s coming up on our radar, and more often than not, we fall short of getting it all done. Eventually, we start to feel like we’re running out of weeks.

After all, 4,000 weeks is not really a long amount of time when you think about it.

Stop Being Busy, Start Being Productive

A lot of people think that time management is about doing more things, faster and then even more things, even faster. Well, that obviously sounds exhausting – which is why many of us eventually give up trying to manage our time in any serious way and instead, exist in this constant state of worry, guilt and last minute reaction.

Then there are those who believe that good time management is about being busy, always having something to do, or something to worry about doing. But time management is not about doing more, faster.

Time Management is About Doing Less, Not More!

When we dn’t proactively manage our time, we end up doing last-minute stuff that needed to be done yesterday, instead of heading out to the beach on a sunny day.

Meanwhile, people who manage their time well, get more time to relax, enjoy life, and spend time with family, friends, or on a hobby they love.

Here is how you know that you’ve actually mastered your time management: It’s when you can slow down, relax, and know that we’ve chosen to do the things that really matter. It’s about knowing so clearly what truly matters that you can confidently refuse to do the other stuff.

Think about time as the real currency you have in life.

Forget about dollars and euros, and think about every week of your life as a certain amount of currency. What you spend it on has to be what you really want to get out of life.

Everything you want from life, whether it’s that flashy sports car, a promotion at work, or an amazing relationship with that special someone, needs an investment of time. So you’ve got to decide what is it that you want out of life and then be willing to pay the price. Of course, if you’re squandering your life currency, your time, on irrelevant things, that leaves very little to invest in the things you really want.

It’s your life, and you’ve got to be the ones to decide how to live it, how to enjoy it, and what to accomplish with it.

Make the decision to NOT let circumstances, emergencies, endless requests, or errands run your life.
